Building on the energy, creativity, and community spirit of the Coach Ballgame Sandlot experience, Bigfoot Baseball Camp offers something deeper — a full week dedicated to helping young players develop not only their baseball skills, but also their confidence, character, and love for the game.
“One of the things we’ve loved most about the Sandlot events is working with the strong West Seattle Baseball culture to fuel kids’ enjoyment of baseball,” said Camp Director Sean Flikke. “Bigfoot Baseball Camp builds on the same spirit. We want players to improve their skills, but even more importantly, we want them to leave believing in themselves, encouraging their teammates, and excited to come back to the field.”
Flikke brings more than 25 years of player development to the camp. A former Stanford University baseball player who was voted Most Inspirational Player by his teammates, he went on to play two seasons of professional baseball before co-founding Headfirst Baseball in Washington, D.C., where he served as Hitting Director and coached travel teams from U10 to U18. Most recently, he served as both training and head coach with Seattle Select Baseball while also working professionally as an educator and mental health counselor specializing in youth development.
Unlike traditional camps that focus primarily on drills, Bigfoot Baseball Camp is designed around a whole-player philosophy. Each day blends high-quality baseball instruction with lessons in teamwork, resilience, communications, leadership, and sportsmanship.
Throughout the week, campers will experience:
- Professional instruction in hitting, throwing, fielding, pitching, catching, and baserunning
- Small-group coaching with individualized feedback
- Competitive games that teach baseball IQ and decision-making
- Fun challenges inspired by the spirit of backyard and Sandlot baseball
- Team-building activities that develop leadership, confidence, and character
- A positive learning environment where effort, curiosity, and growth are celebrated
“We’re not trying to create perfect baseball players,” Flikker said. “We’re helping kids become confident competitors, supportive teammates, and young people who genuinely love coming to the ballpark. If we can do that, the baseball takes care of itself.”
Bigfoot Baseball Camp welcomes players of all experience levels – from first-time players to experienced travel athletes – and is committed to creating an environment where every child is challenged, encouraged, and known by name…and nickname.
Parents can expect a week filled with energetic instruction, engaging games, meaningful mentorship, and plenty of opportunities for players to build friendships while growing both on and off the field.
